The town of Jiufen was founded during the Japanese Occupation. It wasn't until gold was discovered in the mountains surrounding the town that the Jiufen developed into a busy area. The Keelung Night Market is just a 7-minute walk from the Keelung train station and it is not to be missed. It is arguably one of the most famous and even best night markets in the country. The Keelung Night Market is famous for its seafood. The milk crab and stirred fried king crab legs are popular. It’s hard to find these dishes at other markets.
